Real-world leadership challenges

Where most new leaders get stuck.
Where you'll be after.

Before

Good at the work. Struggling to lead

  • You were promoted because you were great at your job — but managing people is completely different
  • Team meetings feel unproductive; people leave without knowing what they're supposed to do
  • You avoid difficult conversations and problems fester until they become bigger ones
  • You're doing too much yourself because delegation feels risky or slower than just doing it
  • You get stuck between your team and senior management with no playbook for navigating that
  • Your team respects your skills but doesn't know where you want to take them
After

A leader teams want to work for

  • Clear communication — your team always knows what's expected, what success looks like, and why it matters
  • Feedback that lands — you give it directly, receive it gracefully, and use it to build stronger relationships
  • Decisions you're confident in — frameworks for prioritising, escalating, and owning outcomes
  • A team that runs without you in the room — proper delegation and accountability built in
  • Difficult conversations handled early and well — not avoided until they become resignations
  • A written leadership plan with your vision, values, and 90-day priorities — shared with your team

For people leading teams
who didn't train for it.

Most leaders are promoted because they were excellent individual contributors. Almost none of them received training in how to actually lead people.

🧑‍💼
New & Aspiring Managers

You've recently stepped into a management role — or a promotion is coming and you want to be ready before the title arrives. You understand the work; you're less sure about the people part.

You'll use this programme to

Build your management foundation before bad habits form. Leave with a clear leadership identity, your first team charter, and tools for the hardest parts of the job — feedback, performance, and difficult conversations.

👑
Entrepreneurs with Teams

You built the business solo or with a small co-founder team — now you're managing 3, 5, or 10 people and realise that running a team is a completely different skill from running the work.

You'll use this programme to

Stop being the bottleneck in your own company. Build systems for delegation, accountability, and team culture so your business can grow without you doing everything yourself.

📈
Senior Professionals

You're a team lead, supervisor, or senior contributor who has informal authority but wants to develop the formal leadership skills to take on a bigger role or manage more effectively in your current one.

You'll use this programme to

Close the gap between your technical seniority and your leadership capability. Develop executive presence, stakeholder management, and strategic communication — the skills that unlock the next level.

8 modules. Each one ends with
something you apply at work.

Every module includes a weekly leadership challenge — a real scenario or exercise you apply directly with your team before the next session. You come back with real experience, not hypotheticals.

Week 01
Leadership Identity — Know Your Style, Know Your Gaps
You can't lead others until you know yourself
What you'll cover
  • Leadership styles and why there's no one "best" style — only the right fit for the context
  • Strengths-based leadership: building on what you're already good at
  • Common new-manager failure patterns and how to avoid them
  • Your personal leadership values and how to make them explicit
Weekly challenge
  • Complete a leadership self-assessment and gap map
  • Write your first draft "leadership philosophy" — one paragraph shared with your peer group
Leadership Style Inventory Values Mapping Exercise
Week 02
Communication & Executive Presence
How you speak and listen determines how your team performs
What you'll cover
  • Running effective 1:1s — the most underused tool in a manager's toolkit
  • Active listening and why most managers are giving instructions, not communicating
  • Executive presence: how to command attention and project confidence in any room
  • Written communication: emails, Slack messages, and briefing documents that actually work
Weekly challenge
  • Hold a structured 1:1 with one direct report using a provided template
  • Record a 2-minute video briefing (a message to your team) — peer-reviewed in the next session
1:1 Template Active Listening Framework
Week 03
Giving & Receiving Feedback
The skill that separates good managers from great ones
What you'll cover
  • Why most managers avoid feedback and what it costs them and their teams
  • Situational feedback frameworks: SBI (Situation-Behaviour-Impact) and when to use it
  • Giving positive feedback that actually motivates (not just "good job")
  • Receiving feedback without defensiveness — how to model the behaviour you expect
Weekly challenge
  • Give one structured piece of developmental feedback to a team member
  • Ask your team for feedback on one specific thing you want to improve — bring the responses to class
SBI Feedback Framework Feedback Journal Template
Week 04
Delegation & Accountability
Stop doing what your team should be doing
What you'll cover
  • Why managers don't delegate — and the real cost of staying hands-on too long
  • The delegation ladder: matching task complexity to team capability
  • Setting up accountability without micromanaging — check-ins, milestones, and clarity upfront
  • What to do when someone misses a target and how to prevent the next one
Weekly challenge
  • Identify 3 tasks you currently own that should be owned by someone on your team
  • Delegate one of them this week using the provided briefing framework
Delegation Brief Template Accountability Scorecard
Week 05
Building & Motivating Teams
Culture is what happens when you're not in the room
What you'll cover
  • What actually motivates people (it's rarely just money) — intrinsic vs extrinsic drivers
  • Building psychological safety: why teams that trust each other outperform teams that don't
  • Team norms and charters — how to make your team's expectations explicit
  • Recognising and retaining good people without always needing a pay rise
Weekly challenge
  • Conduct a brief "motivation audit" — one conversation with each team member about what energises them
  • Draft a team charter (working agreements, goals, and norms) — to be refined in Week 8
Team Charter Template Motivation Audit Guide
Week 06
Decision-Making & Strategic Thinking
Confident decisions under pressure — not paralysis
What you'll cover
  • Decision frameworks: when to use data, when to use judgment, and when to escalate
  • First-principles thinking and how to stop solving the same problem twice
  • Prioritisation: the real difference between urgent and important (and why most managers confuse them)
  • Connecting your team's daily work to the organisation's bigger goals
Weekly challenge
  • Apply one decision framework to a real current challenge your team is facing
  • Write a 1-page brief outlining a decision you need to make and the criteria you'll use
Decision Matrix Template Priority Mapping Framework
Week 07
Difficult Conversations & Managing Up
The conversations that define your leadership
What you'll cover
  • How to have the conversations that most managers avoid — performance issues, conflict, role changes
  • The COIN model (Context, Observation, Impact, Next steps) for structured difficult conversations
  • Managing up: how to influence your manager and stakeholders without a title
  • Navigating organisational politics without compromising your integrity
Weekly challenge
  • Identify one difficult conversation you've been avoiding — plan it using the COIN framework
  • Have the conversation before the final session and debrief with your peer coach

Week 08
Your Leadership Plan (Capstone)
A 90-day plan you share with your team on graduation day
What you'll cover
  • Bringing together all 7 modules into a coherent, personal leadership approach
  • Finalising your team charter — the working agreement between you and your team
  • 90-day leadership priorities: what you're committing to improve and how you'll measure it
  • Cohort presentations — each leader presents to the group, receives final peer feedback, and receives their certificate
Final output
  • Complete leadership plan document (identity + team charter + 90-day priorities)
  • Final team charter — shared with your team in the week after graduation
  • Certificate of completion issued by Seemplr Academy

🤝
Weekly Leadership Challenges

Every module ends with a real-world challenge you apply with your team that week. You come back to the next session with actual results — not textbook answers. The debrief of what worked and what didn't is often the most valuable part of each session.

👥
Peer Coaching Pairs

Each participant is paired with a peer coach from the cohort — someone in a similar role who provides honest feedback across the 8 weeks. By graduation, you have a leadership peer you can call on long after the programme ends.

🌐
Small Cohort — Max 14

Capped at 14 specifically so peer learning is deep and instructor feedback is real. Every challenge is discussed as a group — 14 leaders working through the same problem is far more valuable than any lecture. The cohort size is not a compromise; it's the model.

Not theory —
a leadership system you already use.

📋
Personal Leadership Plan

Your leadership identity, values, and 90-day priorities — written, peer-reviewed, and presented at graduation. The single most useful document a new leader can have.

📝
Team Charter

A working agreement between you and your team: goals, norms, expectations, and how you'll work together. Shared with your team in the week after graduation.

🛠️
Full Leadership Toolkit

Every template used across all 8 modules: 1:1 templates, delegation briefs, feedback frameworks, decision matrices, stakeholder maps, and more. Immediately applicable.

🤝
A Peer Coach Relationship

Your cohort peer coach — someone who has seen your real leadership challenges and provided honest feedback across 8 weeks. Most participants keep these relationships well beyond the programme.

🌐
Alumni Network Access

Lifetime access to the Seemplr Leaders community. Monthly leadership discussions, quarterly alumni events, and ongoing access to fellow leaders across industries and roles.

🎓
Certificate of Completion

Issued by Seemplr Academy on completing all 8 modules and the capstone. Shareable on LinkedIn and in your professional profile as evidence of formal leadership development.

Common questions

Do I need to be managing people already? +
Not necessarily. Some participants join before they've officially moved into a management role — the programme works well as preparation. That said, the weekly challenges are most impactful when you have a team to apply them with. If you're more than 3 months away from managing anyone, consider waiting for the cohort timing to align with your transition.
What industries or roles is this relevant for? +
Leadership skills are broadly transferable. Past participants have come from technology, finance, media, retail, government, NGOs, and entrepreneurship. The weekly challenges are designed to apply to any team context, and peer cohort diversity — working through the same challenge in different industry settings — is a significant part of the value.
What is peer coaching and how does it work? +
Each participant is paired with one other person from the cohort for the duration of the programme. You're encouraged to check in at least once between each session to debrief your weekly challenge, give each other honest feedback on your presentations and leadership plans, and hold each other accountable to applying what you've learned. The pairing is intentional — we match by seniority level and industry context where possible.
Can my employer sponsor my place? +
Yes. Many participants are sponsored by their organisations. We can issue an invoice to your company and provide a course overview suitable for an internal training request. Contact us and we'll send you the documentation you need.
When does the next cohort start? +
Cohort dates are listed on the Academy page. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the cohort is capped at 14. If you're ready to commit, apply now. You can also WhatsApp us to ask about upcoming dates or express interest in a future cohort.
